At first, it was about payments from banks and telcos for favourable treatment on radio. But it soon became about a subtle tango of influence playing out between a prime minister and Sydney’s most influential shock jock.
John Howard employed a staffer known as the minister for Alan Jones whose sole duty was, reputedly, to respond to his correspondence.
